Roco Ki The Faldo Legacy Course

Open since 2008, the course is one of the major attractions of the Roco Ki complex. The Faldo Legacy Course blends strategic golf play with the esthetic delights of the ocean, the beach, mangrove forests and the Macao headland. In its first year, the course has become known as a mandatory location for golfers visiting the Caribbean. Its designer Nick Faldo won 43 tournaments around the world, with a record 11 appearances in the Ryder Cup and six grand championships. The course leads the golfer through an abundant mangrove forest and four internal lakes. Farther on it straddles hills surrounded by rocky cliffs and the magnificent Caribbean Sea. Its challenges are many. Six holes (Numbers 1-3 and 16-18) are on a high cliff that flows into the sea. Holes 4-6 and 13-15 are woven into the mangrove forests. The view at the start of the course is an overview of the course, promontories, the ocean and the mountains on the horizon. At the par 3 3rd hole, golfers must descend from the cliff to a tropical sanctuary, home to centuries-old mangroves which border the rounds. While going upwards to the 15th hole, you are once again close to the ocean, and then you can understand why the short par 3 17th hole, in descent, has been compared to Pebble Beach's 7th hole. Faldo's design culminates on a dramatic note, as shots on the 18th hole must be made over two inlets to reach a rolling green, which is set on a rocky promontory, fighting winds and waves. The course narrows according to how long the shot is, with more traps to challenge those with long-range shots. "Supreme paspalum grass” suitable for championships, was used on this golf course.
