La Cana Golf Club

"Innovative, challenging, beautiful and fun" is how this course is described. It uses paspalum grass that endows it with great consistency from its tees to its greens. A pilot project contemplates that it might be the first golf course to be fertilized organically with earthworm castings and it already is using recycled water, which marks a new precedent in the Punta Cana Group's ecological efforts through its Punta Cana Ecological Foundation. La Cana Golf Club has four masterly holes just at the edge of the Caribbean Sea and 12 holes with sea views. At this course, the deep sand traps are always present. Care is advised to be taken with the 7th hole, also known as "the golfer's purgatory". This hole is a superb left-leaning "dog leg” which always looks out to the sea, with one of the most critical second shots in the entire round and it has to be kept in mind that the green is very high and surrounded by traps. The par 3 12th hole is known as the "green island". Although it is relatively short, the hole is surrounded by a lake that imitates the famous 17th hole at the TPC Sawgrass and when the wind is blowing strongly, players will settle for noting a par on their scorecards. Its closeness to the Punta Cana International Airport is a great attraction, since the airport has the greatest number of flight connections in the Caribbean and is less than 10 minutes from the course. There is year-round instruction at the Punta Cana Golf Academy. The Punta Cana Golf Club's Clubhouse has beautiful views of the beach and the 18th hole.
