Guavaberry GCC
Golf Hall of Fame member Gary Player has received much praise for his design of the Guavaberry Golf & Country Club, located 30 minutes east of the Santo Domingo airport. Close to the Juan Dolio tourist area, the course borders a tropical forest and nature reserve and has earned a very good reputation among golf professionals and amateurs for the demanding nature of its holes. The 13th hole is its signature hole, a beautiful par 3 with a crystal-clear waterfall that can distract even the most expert golfers. Due to its design and the way it blends in with its natural surroundings, Guavaberry gives the impression that the player is always a part of the landscape, never an invader. The 16th hole, for example, stands out for its use of dry tropical forest to mark the course. The final holes require golfers to play at their top skill level due to the left-right crosswinds and the coral rock formations, which according to Dominican geologists, surged up from the seabed approximately 200,000 years ago. The course is at the center of Guavaberry's tourist property development.
